007 DVD Author is a simple free application that was developed with one purpose: conversion of MPEG-2 video files into VOB format.
As it should be expected the application has a simple interface that should cause no problems when using the program. The process is also quite simple: just add video files you want to convert, define the output folder, and then click on the start button. If the files added are not DVD compatible you will be notified about it when trying to start the conversion process. There will appear a window with the error message, and you will be advised to convert the files with the help of another program developed by this company. Actually, I did not have MPEG-2 files stored on my PC, so I downloaded all of them from the Internet, and, what is interesting, all of them were considered by the program as not DVD compatible. So, I went to the site, downloaded the offered program (its trial version) and tried to convert all the files. Still, some of them I did not manage to add for conversion, - received an error message saying something about absence of the required codecs. The other files that I managed to convert to the MPEG-2 format compatible with DVD (with the noticeable loss of quality I should say), were then successfully converted to the VOB format easily with the help of 007 DVD Author.
Well, in the end, the only thing I may say about the program, is that it is too troublesome for such a simple and small application. By the way, I can't even imagine what they have changed in this new version released, the developers themselves do not talk about it. Still they did not even correct the spelling mistake, which is mentioned in the review to the previous version. But still, this sad experience is mine, you can easily test the tool yourself; it is free at least.
